Planning on a trip ! Great ! But sometimes we forget which documents to carry, as this hardly comes up in any conversation we have. This reality hits home when you are in a strange state, trying to haggle with the police waala about missing some document. So, here's the list :

Need to carry docs:

  • License. Should be valid.
  • Bike registration papers. Name should match the license name.
  • Bike insurance. Make sure it has not expired.
  • PUC (Pollution under control).

Not needed:

This section as sometimes cops will try to fleece you on docs you don't need.

  • NOC (No objection certificate)
    • This is required only in case of selling your bike or if you are in a state for more than 90 days. If you take a NOC from you RTO, you will have to reregister the bike in 1 year.
