There are 3 routes to Goa from Pune.
1. via Kohlapur. The shortest route which comes out to be 480kms.
2. via NH17 or the Mumbai Goa road. This is around 540kms.
From Pune, you will need to go via Mulshi and then hit the highway at Kolad.

Mechanics

  1. Pandit Jog - Behind Deccan Gymkhana tennins court. Great hands, specialist for all 4-strokers. Has an eye for detail and GOD for carb-and-engine-tuning. Works on bikes for fun, not really for money. Moody and very choosy about his customers.
  2. Alex - Number:9422024560. Near the airport. Good experienced worker.I personally go to him for specific chassis related work or when I require quick fixes b4 a ride.
  3. Ramesh - Number: 9823174181. Popular with the student bulleteers especially those from outside pune and policewalas. Has a workshop right opposite eSquare.
  4. Kunal - Has a workshop in Viman Nagar. Very competent, but very expensive. Avoid for head jobs.
  5. Rafique - Near Swargate. One of the best mechs I have seen. Extremely experienced and competent with Standard Bullets. However a little lost around the AVLs and "electronic stuff". Good point is, he is honest about that fact.
  6. Balu - Behind Symbiosis. Not a pure Enfield mech (Services other bikes as well), but has a loyal following among those who bought their Enfields in the 60's and 70's (or got them from their dads!). Have talked to him and He seems competent. However like Rafique, lost with the AVL's!

Petrol Pumps

  • RTO - BP-COCO Petrol bunk bang opposite Pune RTO next to Sangam bridge.
  • HP-COCO opposite Agriculture College (Univ Road) - come down from F.C.Rd to Agriculture College/University Rd crossing and take a left, go approx 100 mtrs, this is at your left.
  • BP-COCO petrol bunk @ Kasarwadi - Riding Nigdi --> Pune along Bombay-Pune highway, cross Nashik phata --> cross the extremely congested junction that comes 200 mtrs later (what's its name?) --> go for another 50 mtrs and look @ your left --> this is the Company Operated BP outlet.

Black Listed

  • Chandni Chowk.

This chap mixes kerosine with the petrol. Please have enough petrol in your vehicle before you head out towards Manas, Mulshi or N.D.A. Road.

  • Pure-For-Sure outlet @ Chinchwad crossing, Bombay Pune Highway.

They cheat in measure as well as petrol quality. Mix Kerosene.
